10/12/09: ONLY ITALIAN DATE IN MILAN FOR THE ARCHIVE

The Archive, a London-based band that in recent years has recorded many sold-out shows all over Europe, choose for their only Italian concert an intimate venue, which fits well with their electronic sounds: they will be at the Salumeria della Musica in Milan on 1 February 2010.

To call them trip-hop would be reductive, even though it is perhaps the genre that comes closest to their musical style. The Archive are difficult to pin down into a precise genre, and in their almost fifteen years of activity have ranged from electronic to progressive, from alternative rock to britpop. Their last two works, 'Controlling Crowds' and the resulting Controlling Crowds Part IVThey confirm this mixing of genres, which is also due to the numerous influences from all the group's collaborators. Indeed, Archive can be identified as a kind of collective revolving around the composers and producers Darius Keeler e Danny Griffithsand consists of nine other elements including singers, musicians and arrangers. The single 'The Empty Bottle' was released on 19 October throughout Europe and as in the entire album from which it is taken, the aforementioned Controlling Crowds Part IVmusical references are immediately apparent. From the beginning, the band has not hidden its admiration for The Who and Pink Floyd, to which it adds sounds reminiscent of Massive Attack and Portishead, but also Radiohead and Kraftwerk.

The band announced a tour that will cross Europe, touching Italy with one stop.
