Groove, technique, fun and music with a capital "M": these are the ingredients of the evening's Tower of Powerwhich was staged last night, 20 February, at the Rolling Stone, Milan. The only Italian leg of the legendary American funky band was a success in terms of music and audience, with the Milanese venue packed and a few tickets sold out. The Rolling scream that accompanied the whole show says a lot about the state of form of the ten musicians. With an impeccable set list, which always kept the rhythm of the performance high, the Italian baptism of the new frontman Larry Braggs happened in the best possible way. Tower of Power still have fun, are extraordinary musicians and vintage entertainers. Emilio CastilloAs a great leader, the man who forty years ago founded what is now the legend of world funk, he drags the band along with his charisma. There is also great expectation to see one of the best rhythm sections in the world again. The Italo-American duo made up of Francis Rocco Prestia (bass) and David Garibaldi (drums) is greeted with a standing ovation, as is 'New Orleans looking'. Stephen Kupka (baritone sax), great in his movements. It was a spectacle within a spectacle to see these phenomena dancing to the rhythm of their unique funk.
As announced, there is room for a duet with Mario BiondiThe Italian crooner takes to the stage and bows before the legend. Hard.
The band then gave two encores preceded by a roar of pure energy and profound enjoyment from the 1,400 in the audience.
With Knock Yourself closes an incredible performance:Keep on funkin'
