After the great success of 'Release the Stars' and after the splendid concerts at the Milan Conservatory and the Rome Auditorium, Rufus Wainwright returns with a new album and two more theatre dates in Italy, an ideal dimension for his refined and engaging show, an authentic testimony to an extraordinary and unique artistic talent. The first date at the Teatro Comunale in Florence on 13 May and the second on the 15th at the Milan Conservatory, which two years ago welcomed him with an unparalleled crowd and enthusiasm.
By a slice of the specialised critics that Milan concert on 24 November was defined as the best of that year, 2007.
Rufus' new album is due in mid-April and will be entitled 'Days are nights: Songs for Lulu', the first unreleased album in three years and successor to the 2008 Judy Garland tribute.
The son of Loudon Wainwright and Kate McCarrigle, both folk artists, Rufus began his career as a child, always in close contact with music.
An increasingly controversial character, intimist at times and histrionic and ironic at others, he has become a point of reference for the gay community and, above all, has built up an unassailable artistic credibility. A refined singer, pianist and guitarist of unimpeachable quality, whether accompanied by a band or alone with his piano, Rufus knows how to unleash all the ambiguities, joys and sorrows of his soul on stage.
