27/2/08: AFTER NOVEMBER'S SOLD-OUT TOUR DEEP PURPLE RETURN WITH NEW PRESTIGE DATES

When it comes to the Deep Purple It seems that time has literally stood still for these gentlemen: hard rock, grit and energy like thirty years ago and a great desire to share emotions with their audience. Eight months after their three Italian dates, all sold-out and with over 15,000 attendees, the Deep Purple announce their return to Italy this summer for four concerts: TWO at festivals in prestigious venues and a double theatrical event at the Milan Emeraldcity that had long been missing from their calendars.
The choice of the Milan theatre was confirmed in the wake of the great success the English quintet enjoyed at one of Europe's biggest theatres, the Paris Olympiaon 18 November, where the band mixed the power of rock with the baroque and psychedelic atmospheres that characterised their early days.
The dates are set for 12 July at the Pistoia Blues Festival, 13 at the Colonia Sonora in Turin and 15 and 16 at the Teatro Smeraldo in Milan .

Deep Purple, formed in 1968, have released 17 studio albums, sold more than 100 million copies and won countless platinum records. Live, they are a true rock machine thanks to the unchanged charisma of singer Ian Gillan, the tight rhythm line-up of bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice, and the two top-notch musicians, guitarist Steve Morse and keyboardist Don Airey, who have been with them for more than ten years. In a two-hour concert, Deep Purple will retrace its history, through those that have become true milestones of rock music such as 'Highway Star', 'Smoke On The Water', 'Hush', 'Black Night' and others, including extracts from 'Rapture of The Deep', the latest studio album released in 2005 on the Edel label, in a show with a pure rock flavour.
