There is also Italy, which crowds the arenas of Rome and Milan to attend the two dates of the The CureItaly still thirsts for rock, sweat and tears. From the early hours of the afternoon, many have been waiting for the gates to open to secure a good position a few metres from the face and voice of Robert Smith. While the beautiful country celebrates the Sanremo festival, this also happens, that one of the most influential rock bands in history comes to Italy, one of those that still indulges its fans for three hours and never seems to want to leave the stage. Sold out for a long time, of course... and much more! You can breathe in the air the atmosphere of great occasions and the glimpse of the Palalottomatica in Rome and the Palasharp, Milan is truly breathtaking.
The special guests of the 4 Tours 2008 are the 65 Days of StaticTheirs is a decidedly original proposal, with an instrumental post rock with a very strong sonic impact. The 50-minute seti serves as a prelude to the British band's show, which at both dates takes the stage at 8.45 p.m. on time.
As anticipated, the set list is mainly characterised by the workhorses, interspersed with some tracks that will be part of the still untitled album to be released next spring.
In Rome, the concert opens with Plainsong, from the album Disintegration and it is immediately a roar. Followed by Prayers for rain taken from the same disc and Strange Day from Pornography.
Pathos reaches high levels on Lullaby, Friday I'm in love e In between daysall performed during the first part of the show. A boy I never knew is the title of the unreleased track, just a few notes to heighten the anticipation for the Crawley-based band's new studio work.
After two hours without interruption, the encores begin. An hour of classics that first dredge up the most pop era of their vast production (Close to me, Why can't I be you) then in that rock, defined by them as 'old school', as Boys don't cry, Grinding Halt e Killing another (an Arab).
The audience is extraordinary and the euphoria of the fans during the great classics is measured in deafening decibels.
