The Europe are a Swedish rock band formed in 1981 and active until 1993. They reformed in 1999 and are still active today. One of the greatest historical exponents of melodic hard rock, Europe crossed borders in their early days and achieved mainstream success in 1984 with their second album Wings of Tomorrow and reached the peak of worldwide fame in 1986. Their success not only reshaped new themes and provoked imitations, but for the first time earned heavy metal considerable radio exposure.. The group has two top 20 albums in the chart Billboard 200 (Out of This World), (The Final Countdown) and three top 30 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 chart (Rock the Night, Carrie e The Final Countdown). After 13 years of concerts and five studio albums, they took a break in 1993, reuniting in 1999 on New Year's Eve 2000 for a performance in Stockholm. Since then they have released six more albums and subsequent world tours, Start from the Dark (2004), Secret Society (2006), Last Look at Eden (2009), Bag of Bones (2012), War of Kings (2015) and the eleventh Walk the Earth released on 20 October 2017 by the Hell & Back label. It was produced by Dave Cobb and recorded in the Abbey Road Studios' in London. Also thanks to this latest work, the band in the 2018 edition of the Grammy Awards, was nominated and awarded as 'Best Hard Rock/Metal' band. One of their main strengths has always been the live sector, the band's main influences being Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, UFO and the Michael Schenker Group. The band consists of Joey Tempest (vocals), Mic Michaeli (keyboards), Ian Haugland (drums), John Levén (bass) and John Norum (guitar).
