The Hives
The Hives are a Swedish garage punk/rock band formed in Fagersta in 1993.
The band formed in 1993, legend has it that a certain Randy Fitzsimmons allegedly sent a letter to all five members asking them to form a band. Fitzsimmons is also credited as the band's songwriter. It has since been suspected that 'Randy Fitzsimmons' is a pseudonym for Nicholaus Arson. The first demo is Sounds Like Sushidated 1994. After signing to Burning Heart, released their debut EP, viz. Oh Lord! When? How? (June 1996). In 1997, the group released an album entitled Barely Legal (which is also a nickname for guitarist Vigilante Carlstroem) and began touring. The next EP is A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T.
The second official studio album is Veni Vidi Viciousreleased in April 2000 and distributed by Warner Music Group. It contains the singles Hate to Say I Told You So, Main Offender, Supply and Demand e Die, All Right!.
Alan McGee subsequently decided to sign the band to his Poptones label. On this label, the band released the collection Your New Favourite Band in 2001. This album reached number 7 in the UK Official Albums Chart. After the success of the album, some singles from the album were re-released Veni Vidi Viciouswhich entered the charts in 2002. In addition, the album Veni Vidi Vicious is also released in the United States. A dispute arose between The Hives and Burning Heart after the group signed a contract with Universal Music.
After intensive live activity, the group returned to Sweden where they recorded their third album. The result is Tyrannosaurus Hivesreleased in 2004. The album includes the hits Idiot Walk (number 13 in the Official Singles Chart) and Two Timing Touch and Broken Bones. The group also won two NME Awards in 2003 in the categories 'Best International Band' and 'Best Dressed Band'. In addition, the album won five Swedish Grammis in 2005.
In August 2007 they released the single Tick Tick Boomwhile the following October they released their new album, namely The Black and White Albumrecorded in Oxford (Mississippi), Miami and Sweden. The track Tick Tick Boom and other songs of the group are used in various commercials, video games and TV series. In January 2008, the group won an award at the Swedish Grammis in the category 'Best Live Act'.
In July 2010, the EP Tarred and Featheredcontaining some covers. During 2010-2011, the band participated in numerous music festivals around the world, including Sziget Festival in Hungary, Rock am Ring in Germany, Hard Rock Calling and Wireless Festival in the UK (2010), Splendour in the Grass in Australia (2011).
In March 2012, the band announced its fifth album entitled Lex Hivesreleased by the band's own label, Disque Hives, in June. The first single released is Go Right Ahead. Earlier, some promotional teaser trailers had been released on YouTube.
In 2014, bassist Dr. Matt Destruction (Mattias Bernvall) left the band for unspecified health reasons.

On 17 May 2019, the single I'm Alivefollowed by Good Samaritanproduced together with the AWAL label.
The new single is released on 2 May 2023 Bogus Operandi with a new video clip, anticipating the release of the new unreleased album, entitled The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons scheduled for release on 11 August. the first with new bassist Johan And Only (aka Johan Gustafsson) who joined the band in 2014, replacing Dr. Matt Destruction (aka Mattias Bernvall)
