"When I heard the sad news of Clarence's death on Saturday, I was returning from Germany and immediately my mind went back in time to a night spent in a restaurant in Milan in the company of the 'Big Man' of the E Street Band, Steven (Little Steven, guitarist) and other members of Bruce's band.
At one point during dinner I remember Clarence singing 'Only You' with my wife and sister-in-law.
Aldo (Aldo Bassi, booking agent for Barley Arts) was with me as I recalled that night and another image of Clarence came to mind, linked to the same day, that of him singing in the company of the taxi driver who was accompanying him.
He was a unique man, the 'Big Man' of the E Street Band, and we all feel fortunate to have known him and spent some of our time with him."
