Valerie June, the singer-songwriter who bewitched the White House, will be in Italy for a single summer date Sunday 23 July 2017 at the Circolo Magnolia in Segrate (MI). Le pre-sales will be opened on the Ticketone circuit (online and point of sale) from 10 a.m. on Thursday 20 April.
In his heart, Valerie June is first and foremost a singer-songwriter capable of blurring the boundaries between different genres and eras. The result is an eclectic mix of folk, soul, country, R&B and blues. Since the release of her first album under a label Pushin' Against A Stone (Concord Music Group, 2013), Valerie patiently worked on the garden of his songs, nurturing the shoots with love and a thousand attentions so that they would blossom to bloom in his new album The Order Of Time (2016). Some of the pieces have sprouted from plants sown more than ten years ago, others have unexpectedly blossomed overnight, but each one bears the influence of time. Time itself has been among the thoughts of Valerie lately: it is the only constant in life, even though it is constantly changing. It is the cure for all wounds, the killer of all men, finite and infinite together, eternally flowing with reversals and changes of course, sudden rapids that then give way to flashes of absolute tranquillity. "Time is the metronome of the Earth's rhythm"., explains the June. "Our lives revolve around this. Our hearts beat in unison to the sound of his song. He can be a great guide in turning our greatest dreams and hopes into reality, if only we let him."
E June knows what it means to realise one's dreams. With Pushin' Against A Stone has gone from being Tennessee's most hidden gem, with its self-produced records, to being hailed by the New York Times as one of America's most intriguing and accomplished new talents. The New Yorker was enraptured by his unique and beautiful voice, while Rolling Stone called it unstoppable. The First Lady Michelle Obama invited her to the White House, and the young singer-songwriter has toured with artists such as Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Sturgill Simpson, Norah Jones e Jake Bugg as well as taking part in the festivals of Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Newport Folk, Hangout, ACL, Pickathon, Mountain Jam and many others.
