Damn rock'n'roll may no longer exist, but there is still a lady who perhaps best personifies the libertine life built on the notes of Mick Jagger. This lady's name is MARIANNE FAITHFULLand her rock'n'roll story began in the early sixties as a Rolling Stone groupie, or rather, three of the Rolling Stones, in turn, then the choice fell on Mick's swaying ass. From here Faithfull's musical career began. It also led to what was perhaps the biggest raid in rock history, when armed agents broke into Keith Richards' house and found Faithfull naked, dancing at a party of soft and hard drugs. And it was drugs that tried to take her off the scene, with a nasty addiction that drove her away from show biz for a few years. Ah, meanwhile she had also attempted suicide.
2004. English music lady Marianne Faithfull returns to Italy on the back of the great success of her last work Before The Poison. Ten pieces of high calibre, marked by Faithfull's divinely heartbreaking voice, mostly written by the two former lovers PJ Harvey e Nick Caveas well as other well-known signatures such as Damon Albarn e Jon Brion. "I'm a muse, not a lady, not a whore," she sang on her penultimate album Kissin' Time, to attack the press that had labelled her as the ex-girlfriend of the Rolling Stones. Faithfull is a muse, a true artist who managed to survive the 1960s, and who is now re-presenting herself to the world with a gem such as Before The Poison.
