It will be on all radio stations from Friday 17 June, 'Fearless' the third single from MEG's self-titled album released on 22 October on the Multiformis/BMG Records label. 'Senza Paura' is the only track on the album that does not bear Meg's signature; it is in fact a cover of 'Sem Medo', a song originally written and performed by Toquinho and Vinicio De Morales and re-adapted in 1976 by Sergio Bardotti for Ornella Vanoni who included it under the title 'Senza Paura' on the album 'La voglia, la pazzia, l'incoscienza, l'allegria' .
Meg's version of 'Senza Paura' was produced, like the rest of the album, by Meg and Carlo U. Rossi and was made with the collaboration of Elio e le Storie Tese: Elio performs the song in duet with Meg, Faso is on bass and Christian Meyer on drums.
'A liberating experience,' says MEG about the track, 'My father, a percussionist for pleasure, has always been a lover of Brazilian music. As a child, I must have listened to tons of it. In particular, there was this song by Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho, sung by Vanoni, in the mythological record 'La voglia la pazzia l'incoscienza l'allegria': a real exorcism to fear that literally hypnotised me. Today, retracing that crucial moment in my life, I wanted my father (on percussion), those masters desecrators of all fear that are Elio e le Storie Tese, two magnificent Brazilian musicians: Roberto Taufik and Gilson Silvera, and two of the most virtuoso Italian wind players: Luca Calabrese and Giorgio Giovannini, to be beside me. "
MEG (Maria Di Donna) was born in Naples into a family where he breathes music at 360°: from Neapolitan to Italian songs of the 1970s, from jazz to Beatles pop, from samba to protest songs; this musical mixture, combined with his study of the piano, will inevitably influence his subsequent musical production. In '94, during the occupation of the university of literature, he joined the 99 Posse, giving a nodal turning point to his own life, and that of the group. In 2001, he realised the Nous project with Marco Messina, composing the soundtrack for the theatre play 'Dentro la tempesta', by the experimental company Krypton, based on William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. Nous took an active part in the play: they performed the music on stage and Meg played the role of Ariel. In 2002, Nous released their CD 'The Tempest'. Over the years, they have collaborated with other musicians in various and multiform ways: from Subsonica to Tiromancino, from Pino Daniele to Roy Paci, from Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare to Speaker Cenzou, from Retina.it to Technophonic Chamber Orchestra.
Meanwhile, Meg's tour of major Italian cities continues with great success. A very prestigious and important date is 14 July in Trieste for the 'Isle of MTV' event where Meg will be the only Italian artist present. The event will be broadcast live on MTV in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Holland, Portugal, Romania , Israel , South Africa and 19 other countries including Eastern Europe.
