Once again this year, Barley Arts, during the '10 Giorni Suonati' festival that will see on stage artists of the calibre of Primus, Jeff Beck, Black Crowes, John Mellencamp, John Mayall, Jack Johnson e Brian Setzerwill also give some up-and-coming bands and up-and-coming musicians the chance to perform on the same stage.
There are 2 events planned, with free admission, in addition to the 7 evenings of paid concerts.
On Thursday 30 June, the 10 finalists of the QN MUSIC CONTEST, a music competition for emerging musicians organised by the QN group newspapers (Il Giorno, il Resto del Carlino, La Nazione). The ten finalist bands will perform at the Vigevano Castle, together with two other Italian artists yet to be confirmed. In the last phase the bands will be voted by a group of insiders coordinated, as president, by Marco Mangiarotti, a prestigious signature of music journalism. The most important professional figures will participate in the selections: Caterina Caselli, internationally successful record producer and publisher with Sugar and Andrea Bocelli, Elisa, Avion Travel, Malika and Raphael Gualazzi. Brando, from Catania on Francesco Virlinzi's Ciclope Records tour with a very young Carmen Consoli, rockabilly guitarist, producer and record producer of Modà for the Ultrasuoni label of the three radio networks Rtl, Rds and Radio Italia. Dado Parisini, producer of Laura Pausini and Irene Grandi, but also of Annalisa, one of the tutors of the last edition of Amici. Singer-songwriter and producer Enrico Ruggeri, judge at X Factor. Pierfrancesco Pacoda, music critic and cultural operator, involved from the very beginning (his is the name Music Contest). Then the journalists Letizia Cini and Andrea Brusa, who kicked off the initiative with their proposals and reports. The spirit of the Music Contest is to give a space and a showcase to those who make music in the territory of QN newspapers, to build a site for their video clips, where it is possible to vote for the winners of each edition and submit their work to a qualified jury. Promoting the widest possible participation, without chasing the format of traditional festivals, from Castrocaro to Sanremo Giovani, also because here the protagonist is a collective idea of music, a way of life that often goes beyond rehearsals and concerts. Music Contest is therefore an idea, a project, a work in progress that develops on the web, in the newspapers and in the territory. Glocal, global and local like the DNA of the QN newspapers.
Friday 8 July will be the turn of 'EDISON - CHANGE THE MUSIC, the contest within the contest': the 5 finalist bands, which emerged after careful selection from all those who registered for the contest via the website www.edisonchangethemusic.it, will compete on the '10 Giorni Suonati' stage. The band that will be recognised as the most deserving will have the great opportunity to play on the Bon Jovi stage at their only concert in Italy, on 17 July at the Friuli Stadium in Udine. The choice will be made following in part the judgement of the audience present at the evening, in part that of the jury of quality chaired by Franco Mussida and in part that of Bon Jovi's management, who will examine all the audio-video material of the finalist bands.
