03/09/09: WE WILL ROCK YOU IN TRIESTE: FROM 27 TO 31 JANUARY A MUSICAL AT THE BORDER

"We Will Rock You", the musical conceived by Queen and written by Ben Elton, produced in Italy by Barley Arts, will not only be staged in Milan and Rome, but also at the Teatro Rossetti in Trieste, from 27 to 31 January 2010. "We Will Rock You - The Musical" will debut in Italy on 4 December 2009 toAllianz Theatre by Milanand will arrive at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome from 11 February 2010.

 

The Teatro Rossetti in Trieste, one of Italy's most active and important theatres for big musicals, after hosting  in recent years some of the most famous ones, including 'The Rocky Horror Show', 'Grease', 'Mamma Mia' and 'Footlose', is preparing to welcome another exclusive international production next season, 'We Will Rock You'.

The show in Italy is produced by Claudio Trotta for Barley Arts, directed by Maurizio Colombi and sees the participation of part of the original staff: Mark Fisher as set designer, Ted Irwin production supervisor, Mike Dixon music supervisor, Brian May e Roger Taylor general supervisors and also involved in the selection of the Italian cast and band of musicians who will play the songs live each night, sung in English, while the dialogues will be recited in Italian.

 

"We Will Rock You - The Musical" is set 300 years in the future, in a place once called 'Earth' and now become 'Planet Mall', a victim of total globalisation, a planet where rock is banned and its followers live in hiding. The show was originally intended to be staged for seven weeks and debuted at the Dominion Theatre in the West End of London on 12 May 2002. It has just celebrated seven consecutive years of performances at the Dominion Theatre and over 8 million people have seen it so far in its 14 international productions.
