Melissa Auf Der Maurone of the most famous bass players of all time, not only for having been with the Smashing Pumpkins, arrives in Rome for a concert with only his bass guitar. For the occasion Melissa will also hold a clinic to accompany the performance.
After the dissolution of the group the Auf Der Maur has embarked on a brilliant solo career that also sees her as a singer and multimedia artist. Her 2008 project is entitled 'Out of Our Minds' and is a 'fantasy noise experience' consisting of an album, a video, photographs and a comic book by Auf Der Maur herself.
In 1994, recommended by my friend Billy Corgan, joins as bassist in the group of Hole replacing Kristen Pfaff after her passing, however, she only contributed to the album Celebrity Skin. In 2000, he instead joined the Smashing Pumpkins, after bassist D'arcy Wretzky left the group. With the Smashing Pumpkins, he did not contribute to the recording of the album 'Machina/The Machines of God' but plays during the "Resume the pose and the "Sacred and Profane Tour. It also contributes to the recording of 'Rock On'later included in the Pumpkins' own Greatest Hits. However, at the end of 2000, the Smashing Pumpkins disbanded. In 2002, they recorded the duet Le Grand Secret with the French group Indochine.
It was not until 2003 that he started working on a solo project, Auf der Maur, and in 2004, the eponymous album was released. For this debut album, he can count on the musical participation of James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins and A perfect circle) and Eric Erlandson (Hole) and also Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri of Queens of the Stone Age, Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees), Twiggy Ramirez, former bassist of Marilyn Manson, Brant Bjork, former Kyuss and Fu Manchu and many others. In the same year, she also worked as an actress in the TV drama The Greatest Canadian, while in November she took part in the Love Metal Tour.
