09/07/09: GEORGE BENSON'S MILAN DATE MOVES TO ARENA CIVICA

Moving from the Teatro degli Arcimboldi to the Arena Civica, the venue for all the other events on the bill at the Milano Jazzin Festival, George Benson's concert in Milan on 20 July.
Benson, one of the finest musicians ever, returns to Lombardy's capital city two years after his concert at the Teatro Smeraldo with Al Jarreau. Only on this occasion for 2009 George Benson is performing all his hits live.
After the project linked to the album 'Givin' it up' and after his last tour in which he interpreted Nat King Cole's hits, George Benson is back in the saddle with his own show, characterised by his hits and the magic released by his voice and fingers. His concert on 20 July at the Arena Civica, as part of the Milano Jazzin Festival, will be one of the most prestigious appointments of the rich season of live music offered in the city before the summer break.
George Benson's career, which began in the early 1960s, is certainly one of the most representative of jazz and all that music that can be defined as 'entertainment music'. There are few artists who, like Benson, have managed to successfully switch from one genre to another, demonstrating good taste, elegance and instrumental virtuosity at every opportunity. Inspired at the beginning of his career by two legendary guitarists like Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery, true precursors of jazz guitar, Benson himself over the years has become a reference point for more than a generation of musicians, a guitarist with an unmistakable style and a vocalist with a velvety, sensual timbre. There are even those who have seen in Benson's guitar-vocal combination the equivalent of what voice and piano were in Nat King Cole.
The Milano Jazzin' Festival is promoted by Councillor Giovanni Terzi, the Milan City Council's delegate for Creativity, Fashion Design and Events.
