Tickets for one of the most successful musicals ever, 'We Will Rock You', will go on sale from tomorrow Thursday 14 May., conceived by Queen and written by Ben Elton. The Italian debut is scheduled for 4 December at the Allianz Teatro in Milan, with a production specially conceived for Italy by Barley Arts and Queen Theatrical Productions. The musical stages 24 of Queen's greatest hits and reflects the live performances of the historic band.
The show we will see in Italy is produced by Claudio Trotta for Barley Arts, directed by Maurizio Colombi and sees the participation of part of the original staff: Mark Fisher as set designer, Ted Irwin production supervisor, Mike Dixon music supervisor, Brian May and Roger Taylor general supervisors and also involved in the selection of the Italian cast and band of musicians who will play the songs live each night, sung in English, while the dialogues will be recited in Italian.
"We Will Rock You - the Musical" is set 300 years in the future, in a place once called 'Earth' and now become 'Planet Mall', a victim of total globalisation, a planet where rock is banned and its followers live in hiding. The show was originally intended to be staged for seven weeks and debuted at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End on 12 May 2002. It has just celebrated seven consecutive years of performances at the Dominion Theatre and over 8 million people have seen it so far in its 14 international productions.
