When last year Gianni from America (as he likes to introduce himself) arrived in Milan and Rome, the former Modern Lovers Jonathan Richman had been missing in our country for over two years. A year and a half after that tour, here he is again in the company of the drummer Tommy Larkinsfor four appointments in the name of intimacy and simplicity, to the great joy of his many fans who welcomed him with great enthusiasm.
JONATHAN RICHMAN will be in Italy 21 to 25 Octoberstarting in Milan, then Turin and Ravenna and ending in Rome.
Jonathan Richman, artistically attached to Boston, made his debut in the early 1970s as singer, guitarist and leader of the Modern Loversa historic garage band. In 1973, the group split up and was reborn as an acoustic project, producing the hit album 'Rock'n'roll' (1977), which contains the track Egyptian Reggae a true example of experimental 'roots' music, which conquered the European charts within a few weeks.
In 1979, Richman continued as a solo artist and released a series of albums ranging from country to garage to Latin music, bringing with him a loyal group of fans. Today, his music is a jovial, Spartan folk that tells simple stories in an original way and with a passion that makes each of his records a little gem: his latest album is Because Her Beauty is Raw and Wildthe twelfth in almost twenty years of his solo career.
