THE 16 October next, Argentina's most famous band will take the stage at the Alcatraz, Milan for an exclusive concert. Eagerly awaited by the Argentine community, which sees in them authentic idols, this unique date represents a great opportunity for the Italian public to get to know a line-up capable of filling stadiums on the other side of the ocean.
The musical value is combined with a humanitarian one: in fact, part of the proceeds will be donated to the Pupi Onlus Foundation (www.fundacionpupi.org), already active in Italy for many years thanks to the interest of Argentinean citizens living in our country such as Javier Zanetti, which works to protect the right to sustenance and education of Argentinean children and families who find themselves in prohibitive social conditions.
Towards the end of the 1980s, the city of Buenos Aires -Argentina- saw the birth of the LOS PIOJOSa rock band that was about to change the music of an entire country. LOS PIOJOS started out under the influence of international rock classics and later created their own style, which remains a trademark to this day: a raw rock sound with tango and candombe overtones, all typical Rio de la Plata styles. Experience and the support of the public meant that the band began an unrestrained growth. By the mid-1990s they were already appearing on classic Argentine rock stages, and towards the end of that decade they had to perform in football stadiums to be able to satisfy so many fans who wanted to see them live. Today, after nine records produced independently by EL FAROLITO DISCOS (with more than 1,000,000 pairs sold), LOS PIOJOS firmly occupy the podium of the most popular groups. Their most important show took place in November 2003 at the stadium of the River Platewhere 80,000 people gathered in a single evening. In 2004 and 2005, they started a big tour throughout Argentina - which ended with two dates in the legendary Bombonera, Boca Jrs.stadium - and then presented themselves for the third time in Europe and for the fourth time in the United States, where they played in Miami, New York, San Diego and Los Angeles. In 2006 they released their first DVD and in 2007 their second. The same year they recorded their new CD 'Civilizaciòn' (elected by the public and the press as the best of the year, with six nominations for the 'Gardel' award), which went double platinum in a few weeks and took them once again to play throughout Argentina and for the fourth time to Mexico. In addition, EL FAROLITO DISCOS (Manu Chao among its other artists) re-released the band's first four albums (selling like hotcakes in all record shops).
