17/07/09: BRUCE IS IN ITALY FROM SUNDAY - WORKING ON A DREAM TOUR IN ROME FROM 10PM

You can feel the excitement of the debut, Sunday 19 July, when at 22.00 sharp Bruce Springsteen together with the E Street Band will take the stage at the Olimpico in Rome. In fact, despite 30 concerts in Italy during his career, including 20 with Claudio Trotta's Barley Arts, Bruce has never played first at the Olympic Stadiumone of the few places of comparable charm to Sansiro.
At 10 p.m. on the dot, a time imposed by the Capital's authorities to avoid the simultaneity between Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's concert and the competitions of the first day of the World Swimming Championships, scheduled at the Foro Italico, three hours of show will begin in front of the 'best audience in the world', as he himself defined Italian fans in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
Instead, the start of the next two concerts, on 21 July at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin and on 23 July at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, remains fixed at 8.30 p.m. as previously announced. In any case, all three shows will be unique, as fans who follow Bruce Springsteen constantly know. Unchanged energy, always different setlist, recently also enriched by the audience's requests written on posters that the Boss does not fail to collect during the course of the evening. 'I still have a great desire to drive people crazy under the stage,' says Bruce. 'Live I want to entertain the audience, give them joy and fun, but I also want the show to reflect the times we are living in. Live only the two or three key songs from the latest album 'Working On A Dream', released on 23 January 2009, then space for a show made up of 'greatest hits' (it is no coincidence that June saw the release of one with Springsteen's unmissable songs with the E Street Band) and surprise songs, sometimes recovered in a live key after years of absence.
The European tour, which began on 30 May in the Netherlands and resumed after a brief two-week American interlude, with a momentous concert at the Glastonbury Festival on 27 June, has so far shown Bruce Springsteen's amazing form and the E Street Band - Roy Bittan, piano and keyboards; Clarence Clemons, saxophone and percussion; Nils Lofgren, guitars; Gary Tallent, bass; Steve Van Zandt, guitar; Max Weinberg drums; Soozie Tyrrell violin and backing vocals, Charlie Giordano, keyboards.
The tour will end after a total of 26 dates on 2 August in Santiago, Spain. In the meantime fever is growing for the three Italian concerts, for which tickets for the lawn are sold out while there is still some availability for some numbered sectors. It's just under 10 hours of live music with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, who as always will light up the stage to the cry of "Is anyone alive out there?". To the fans the answer.
