There is no need to hide and not admit that 'Sushi & Coca', the most recent album by the Marta sui Tubi, was an important moment in Italian independent music in the zero years. A tour lasting almost three years with a hundred or so concerts, several awards received, from the one for best video at the MEI 2008 for 'Cinestetica' to the INSOUND award to Carmelo Pipitone (guitar and voice of the band), and above all an ever-increasing audience, are the affirmation that Marta sui Tubi are now a reference point in the Italian music scene.
If in 2010 the single 'Without a Net', appearances with 'Lizard Tail' in the compilation 'Resistant Materials' and with 'The Commissioner' in the series 'Romanzo Criminale 2' had at least partially appeased the fans' hunger, it is now time for the binge: Finally, mid-March will see the release of the long-awaited new album of unreleased tracks, entitled 'Carne con gli occhi' (Meat with Eyes), and from 26th of the same month the tour will start, with 'date zero' in Modena and the official premiere scheduled for the first of April in Roncade (TV).
Giovanni Gulino (vocals), Carmelo Pipitone (guitar and vocals), Ivan Paolini (drums), together with Paolo Pischedda (keyboards) and Mattia Boschi (cello), are currently finishing recording at the Esagono in Rubiera (RE), a historic studio in Emilia that will close its doors immediately after the 'Carne con gli occhi' sessions. The album was produced by Tommaso Colliva, the mastermind of Calibro 35 as well as sound engineer of Muse and producer of Afterhours.
Marta sui Tubi's last concert before joining Officine Meccaniche (where they started recording) was last 11 December at the Angelo Mai in Rome, where they staged a new and extravagant version of 'Arte sui Tubi', the show that associates Marta's music with various and different art forms, from theatre, as happened in Rome, to modern art, as happened at the Fondazione Pomodoro in Milan last May.
