The traditional Christmas Concert for the whole city is back.
This year's protagonist Natalie Cole, who will be in Piazza Duomo on Saturday 20 December, at 21.00, for a free evening supported by the Milan City Council's Leisure Department as part of 'Milano è Natale 2008' (Milan is Christmas 2008).
The legendary artist, who has sold more than thirty million albums in her career, will hold her only Italian date, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra with a very special line-up: in fact, it is the meeting of the Ladies Orchestra of Sofia, an all-female classical ensemble, and the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio, a jazz formation of exceptional artistic depth.
Natalie Cole revisits live with the Orchestra some of the pop standards of her favourite artists such as Frank Sinatra o Sammy Davis Jr.traditional songs such as Come Rain or Come Shine, Nice and Easybut above all the hits that earned her eight Grammy Awards during her career, such as This Will Be (An Everlasting Love), Unforgettable, and Walkin' My Baby Back Home, the virtual duet with his father Nat King Cole also contained on the last recorded album 'Still Unforgettable'.
'I still love recording albums and I love playing live,' he explains Natalie Cole - but like my father, the most intense and most enjoyable moments are when I get to sing together with a wonderful orchestra, which gives me the energy and colours my voice and what I sing with the ideal tones'.
The evening will be opened by a short set by the Orchestra, which will perform some rearranged pieces by classical and contemporary artists, until Natalie Cole takes the stage for an absolutely unforgettable concert.
