San Siro Stadium sold out for the concert of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Wednesday 25 June next. And the start of the show is brought forward to 8.30 p.m., although on the tickets sold for several months now it is indicated at 9 pm. The change was necessary in order to reconcile the Boss's live duration, close to 3 hours, with the imposition to finish by 11.30 pm on the dot, reiterated by an ordinance recently issued by the Milan City Council.
This concert will be the 20th consecutive Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band with Claudio Trotta's Barley Arts, the artist's promoter in Italy since 1999, when Bruce reunited the E Street Band for the first time after several years and performed three exciting concerts in Bologna and Milan from 17 to 20 April. Trotta began to organise Springsteen's tours after the death of Franco Mamone, the unforgettable promoter who, from the early 1970s, started the history of big international concerts in our country, including those of Springsteen himself: it was Mamone himself who organised the first Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert at the San Siro on 21 June 1985.
Of the 20 concerts in 9 years with Barley Arts, Bruce Springsteen has given 9 with the trusty E Street Band, 3 solo for the Devils & Dust acoustic tour in 2005, 8 with the Seeger Sessions Band for the Pete Seeger tribute folk project, completed in 2006: a variety that speaks volumes about the artist's greatness.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band now return to Sansiro on 25 June, the twelfth of 23 stops on their current European tour, which will end on 20 July at Barcelona's Camp Nou. Bruce Springsteen (vocals and guitar) will take to the stage with Roy Bittan, piano and keyboards; Clarence Clemons, saxophone and percussion; Nils Lofgren, guitars; Gary Tallent, bass; Steve Van Zandt, guitar; Max Weinberg, drums; Soozie Tyrrell violin and backing vocals, Patti Scialfa guitar and backing vocals, Charlie Giordano on keyboards, in the role that for 40 years belonged to the great Danny Federici, who died a few months ago.
The public is advised to arrive in the San Siro area early, even if in possession of tickets with numbered seats, and preferably using public transport, as a Municipal Ordinance restricts the circulation and parking of private vehicles in the area adjacent to the stadium on the day of the concert, resulting in the closure of car parks (including those at the stadium) from 1 p.m. However, the metro service hours will be extended and the circulation of public transport will be strengthened, in particular with 10 extraordinary trams on line 16, 4 buses on line 90, as well as the operation of 6 SHUTTLE BUSES PATROCLO - LAMPUGNANO M1 + LOTTO with the relative strengthening of the M1 metro line through 4 extraordinary trains and the 30-minute extension of the service (the last one leaving Lotto will be at 00:15).
