19/11/10: FIVE DATES IN APRIL FOR VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR

Peter Hammill, Guy Evans and Hugh Bunton, aka Van der Graaf Generator, one of the most important progressive rock bands ever, announce the new European tour that will follow the release of the album "A Grounding in Numbers": five Italian stops, between 4 and 9 April 2011.

The three will start in Rome at the Auditorium, then be in San Benedetto del Tronto on the 5th, on the 7th at the Milan Conservatory, on the 8th in Vicenza and on the 9th in Cesena.

I Van Der Graaf Generator they began to make their way in England in the late 1960s with their very particular musical vision, which is difficult to classify and includes elements of jazz, electronica, classical, blues and soul. Theirs is experimental music in the broadest sense of the term; they are a rock quartet but without guitars, they use instruments such as organ, flute, saxophone, piano, which they themselves modify to produce sounds that are then enriched with refined overdubbing effects. Incredible things for that era, so much so that they became one of the most significant realities of progressive music of all time. Albums such as 'Pawn Hearts' (1972) e Still Life' (1976) are highly appreciated by European audiences but especially by Italian audiences, who never miss a chance to see them live, the dimension in which they express themselves best. Live performances are visionary streams of electronic music created by the obsessive drumming of Guy Evansfrom the keyboards of Hugh Bunton and the horns of David Jackson (currently no longer in the band), grooved by the vocals of Peter Hammill. The latter is not only the leader and founder of the line-up, but also the most active member, with a flourishing solo career that has never been fully abandoned. In 2008, he released Trisector, currently their most recent album, whose tour took them to Italy the following year for three unforgettable and packed concerts.
