They are on the crest of a wave with the single 'Daddy's gone'from their eponymous debut album: Glasvegasproduced by James Allan (band leader) and Rich Costey (Interpol, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Mew), hit No. 2 in the UK Albums Chart shortly after its release date (September 2008) and exploded the Glasvegas phenomenon - understood as band, sound, way of being - already defined by New Musical Express "The Greatest New Rock and Roll Band in the World" (from NME of 21 June 2008).
Their escalation in England has been nothing short of frantic: I Glasvegas they self-publish the first single "Go Square Go!" on 30 October 2006. The 2007 follow-up - the limited edition in 7" format entitled "Daddy's Gone - earned 2nd place in the Single of the Year chart compiled by NME. Shortly after the release of the third single in a limited edition, "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry". (14 February 2008, Valentine's Day), Glasvegas won the Philip Hall Radar Award (prestigious award reserved for new bands based on votes by NME staff) at the 2008 Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony.
James Allan and co. devote part of 2008 to cementing their reputation as one of the leading live bands in the UK. Tour dates in Scotland sold out in less than a week, while the UK trade press praised Glasvegas for memorable performances at major festivals, including SRO events at Glastonbury and T In The Park.
Glasvegas came to America in early 2008 to record their debut album at Brooklyn Recording Studios. The project includes new versions of the band's historic singles, 'Daddy's Gone' and 'It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry', as well as unreleased tracks such as 'Geraldine', the new album's launch single.
