28/3/11: THE ARK ANNOUNCE FAREWELL TOUR, AT LIVE IN TREZZO THE ONLY ITALIAN DATE

Ola Salo, singer and leader of the Swedish band, announces THE ARK's farewell to the stage. The most glam line-up of the last ten years will be leaving in style: after releasing 'Arkeology', a collection of their hits (on the EMI label), here is the announcement of the tour, which comes to Italy on 12 May for a single date at Live in Trezzo.
THE ARK have been missing in our country since 2007, when they held two dates in October as part of the tour following their latest studio album, entitled 'Prayer of the Weekend'.
Across Europe, they achieved success with their very first single 'A fool to remain sane', taken from their debut album 'We are the Ark' in 2000. The glam quintet immediately stood out for the great quality of their sound, for their ambiguous image and, thanks to a live activity that proved to be the band's real strength, they reached two million copies sold in Europe alone, racking up Grammy Awards. The success continued with the second album 'In Lust we trust', driven by the single 'Cometh you, cometh I', still oriented towards glam sounds. The third album 'State of the Ark' was released in 2005, perhaps less inspired than its predecessor. Despite this, the album will be the best-selling in Scandinavia by the end of the year.
'Prayer of the Weekend', released in September 2007, brought attention back to Ola and co. in the rest of Europe as well, and the success of the tour was testament to a line-up in a state of grace.

Now Ola Salo (vocals, piano), Japson (guitar), Martin Axen (bass), Sylvester Schlegel (drums) and Jens Andreson (keyboards) choose to go their separate ways, after more than ten years of career together. They will do so in a joyful manner, like their concerts, over the top in terms of theatricality and execution The choice of costumes and the cheeky attitude refer directly to the most poetic and at the same time unconventional rock of the mid 70s.
