3/3/10: HERE ARE THE LOCATIONS IN ROME AND PADUA FOR ZZ TOP

Rock's most famous beards return to Italy: Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, aka ZZ TOP. The Texan trio will be on tour in July and specifically will play the 12th at Rock in Roma, the 14th in Padua in the splendid amphitheatre of Villa Contarini and the 15th in Milanwhose location will be revealed shortly.

For the Rome and Padua dates we will find as special guests the RATT, a historic American melodic metal band that sold over five million copies in the 1980s.

ZZ Top: one of the most established and recognisable icons of international musicThe band's bizarre look, characterised by the two front men's long, bushy red beards and their rough, Texas rock/blues sound. In addition to this, what makes them even more unique is the fact that they have never changed line-up in forty years, since 1971 when they released 'ZZ Top First Album'. The big success came in '73 with 'Tres Hombres'.their third studio work, in which we find the legendary 'La Grange'. Their great ability to renew themselves over the years, while keeping their nature intact, led them to reach the peak of popularity in the 1980s, especially thanks to the record 'Eliminator'when they added synths and a certain pop vein to their songs.

On 15 March 2004 ZZ Top were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but their consecration had long since taken place. Just think of the numerous references that American culture, from cinema to fashion via advertising, has paid tribute to the three Texas musicians. Their songs have been included in films such as 'Back to the Future' and 'Terminator 2', while in 'Ghost Rider' with Nicholas Cage, a real tribute is paid to them, when the lead actor wears their trademark glasses to the tune of 'Tush'; and we could cite many more examples.

In 2009, ZZ Top released the live DVD 'Double Down Live' (in Italy distributed by Edel) which anticipates what Billy (vocals and guitar), Dusty (bass and vocals) and Frank (drums) will bring to Italy next summer. In the meantime, ZZ Top have already announced their presence as headliners at the High Voltage Festival on 24 July in London, as well as at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago, scheduled for 26 June.
