9/7/10: KEITH EMERSON & GREG LAKE TOGETHER: 8 ITALIAN THEATRE DATES IN NOVEMBER

It is not a tour to promote a new album: "An Intimate Night with..." will not have any promotional background but only the pure purpose of returning to play live the music of the Emerson, Lake & Palmerthe trio that wrote seminal pages of prog and beyond in the 1970s.

The protagonists of this adventure are the keyboardist Keith Emersonwho finally overcame the nagging tendinitis that had forced him to take a year off, and the voice of the singer and bassist Greg Lake. There will be eight appointments in Italy, from 16 to 27 November, starting in Trieste and ending in Florence, while Milan and Rome will be visited on the 21st and 19th respectively.

The setlist of the concerts will be mainly based on EL&P's warhorses in a more intimate and essential version, as the very name of the tour, which is fresh from a resounding success in the United States, suggests.

Emerson and Lake were the backbone of the trio (completed by drummer Carl Palmer) throughout the 1970s, before disbanding in 1980. That decade saw the release of albums that are fundamental to the history of modern music, including 1971's 'Picture of Exhibition', a masterpiece inspired by Modest Musorgsky's piano work of the same name, 'Trilogy' and 'Brain Salad Surgery'. The three would later play together again in 1992, composing two more studio albums.

Greg Lake, besides being Emerson's musical partner, is one of the founders of King Crimson with whom he recorded the debut 'In the Court of King Crimson' and the subsequent 'In the Wake of Poseidon', albeit partially.

Keith Emerson, who released his last solo album together with singer Marc Bonilla in 2008, returns to the stages after having had to forgo the last tour due to a nagging tendinitis, which is now fortunately behind him.

For lovers of Rock with a capital R, 'An Intimate Night with Keith Emerson & Greg Lake' is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this last half of 2010.
