AJR is an American indie pop band formed in 2005 in New York and consisting of brothers Adam, Jack and Ryan Met.

The Met brothers started performing in 2005 as street performers in Central Park and Washington Square Park, initially singing covers of big hits. In the following years, they tried their hand at producing their own songs, founding their own independent record label, LARJ Productions, through which they released their first two albums in 2010, Born and Bred e Venture.

In 2012 they participated in The Beatles Complete On Ukulele project, recording a cover of The Night Before. The following year, the first EP was released. 6foot1later renamed I'm Ready; the single of the same name, which contains a vocal sample of SpongeBob SquarePants, became a big hit in Australia, reaching number 5 in the singles chart and receiving double platinum status for 140 000 copies sold. It also became the group's first single to appear in the Billboard Hot 100, reaching 65th place.

In 2014, the EP Infinity together with the single of the same name, while on 27 February 2015, the third album Living Roomwhich is the first to be distributed by a major label, Warner Bros. Records. The latter is also the group's first release to be well received by specialised critics, who acclaimed the production and lyrics of the tracks.

On 16 September 2016, the group released the EP What Everyone's Thinkingaccompanied by the single Weakwhich in the following months received great success globally, especially in Europe, where it entered the top ten in Norway and the Netherlands while in the UK it stopped at position number 58; it also received several gold and platinum records.

The fourth album, The Click, went on sale on 9 June 2017 and debuted at number 61 of the Billboard 200; as of May 2019, it has totalled over 631.1 million streaming plays. From it are extracted the singles Drama e Sober Up, the latter in collaboration with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. Between 2017 and 2018, the group promotes the album via the The Click Tour, featuring artists such as Hundred Handed, Grizfolk, Ocean Park Standoff, and Max Schneider. Also in 2017, they participate in the It's On Us campaign promoted by Barack Obama against sexual violence in US colleges.

A deluxe version of The Click is published on 21 September 2018, preceded by Burn the House Downwhich debuted in 100th place on the Billboard Hot 100.

On 30 January 2019, the 100 Bad Days as the lead single from the fifth album Neotheaterwith the song, the group performed at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! the following 11 March. The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, marking the first top ten ranking.

On 12 February 2020, AJR released the single Bang!accompanied by the corresponding video clip. Used in an Apple commercial, the song became the band's highest placing in the Billboard Hot 100, at number 8. In March 2021, the group released their fifth album OK Orchestra.
