Figlio d’arte, Dweezil Zappa inizia negli anni ottanta come vj di MTV. Nel 1982 debutta come musicista con il singolo My Mother is a Space Cadet and in 1986 with the album Havin' a Bad Dayfollowed in 1988 by My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama. In 1991, the double album Confessionsco-produced by Nuno Bettencourt. Since the early nineties he has been working on a project called What The Hell Was I Thinking?A single 75-minute track with a guest list of guitarists from Jeff Beck to Edward Van Halen and many others, but it never saw the light of day due to various problems. In the meantime, he made a few appearances in various television shows, both as an actor in the sitcom Normal Life with his sister Moon Unit, and as the voice actor for the character Ajax Duckman in the animated series Duckmanas well as a musician for the theme song of the The Ben Stiller Show. He also appears in the TV show The Happy Hour together with his brother Ahmet in 1999. In 1994 he formed Z with his brother Ahmet on vocals, multi-instrumentalist Mike Keneally on piano and bassist Scott Thunes. The band released their first record, Shampoohorn in 1993, followed in 1996 by Music for Pets. In 2000 he returned as a solo artist with the album Automaticfollowed only six years later by Go with What You Know. The same year the project Zappa Plays Zappawith which he toured the world playing his father Frank's music together with other musicians and famous guests. In 2008 the project released a self-titled album.
