The Warning is a Mexican musical group from Monterrey, formed in 2012 by the three sisters Daniela, Paulina and Alejandra Villareal.

After their first musical experiences at a very young age, during which Daniela and Paulina took piano lessons and developed a classical background, in 2007 the encounter with the popular video game Rock Band was the first influence on the choice of instruments that each would later adopt. Alejandra, growing up in an environment with a strong focus on listening to and creating music, naturally followed the example of her older sisters, choosing the bass as her instrument. Although they had never thought of starting a band, they found themselves playing together in various school shows and, with the publication of some videos on YouTube, their popularity on the web exploded with a cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman, about which Kirk Hammett, the San Francisco band's historic guitarist, had this to say: "Drummer kicks maximum ass!"

Encouraged by this success they began to play more covers of bands such as Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, Coldplay and Muse, even ending up appearing on the Spanish edition of Rolling Stone.

In January 2015, they released the self-produced EP Escape the Mind containing their first original songs, and due to the attention they received, they received an invitation to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Thanks to the support they received from Ellen and the success of the simultaneous GoFundMe campaign, they were able to attend a five-week summer internship at Berklee College Of Music in Boston. At the same time, the team of Rockband developers, who had already been so instrumental in inspiring the three sisters' careers, contacted them to include the single from Escape the Mind Free Fallingfollowed later as a free download by Survive, a song that still closes most of the group's concerts today.

After a period spent playing live, during which they were invited to perform at several major festivals in Mexico and the United States opening concerts for rock stars such as Def Leppard and Alice Cooper, The Warning entered the studio to record their first full-length album, XXI Century Bloodreleased on 27 March 2017.

Spent much of 2017/2018 honing the live sound, with performances in numerous locations throughout Mexico, adding a US leg at Whisky a GoGo in West Hollywood, also opening the Mexico City concert for The Killers and after playing in front of almost thirty thousand spectators at the Hell & Heaven Festival, on 25 November 2018 it was released Queen of the Murder Scene, a concept album that once again includes thirteen pieces written over the previous months, and this time also fully financed through a Kickstarter campaign by hundreds of fans around the world.

2019 saw The Warning perform to promote QOTMS in various locations in Mexico and South America, playing among others at Rock al Parque in Bogotá, the biggest rock festival in the whole of Latin America, to later embark on an Argentinian tour with Eruca Sativa. During a sold-out concert at the Foro Didi in their native Monterrey they performed for the first time Narcissistthe first song with Spanish lyrics addressed to those in Mexico who had accused The Warning of foreignophilia for their choice to sing in English. The year then ended just before Christmas with two concerts at New York's Mercury Lounge.

In early 2020, a new Kickstarter campaign was launched to fund the third studio album and a full twenty-three-date tour of the US and Canada. Funded for over 600% of the planned amount, was the most successful Kickstarter campaign ever recorded in Mexico and the sixth overall for a rock band project. However, the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 halted all these projects and also the live activity of the band, which still had the opportunity to perform two consecutive nights at Whisky a GoGo in Los Angeles, at the Crossroads Festival in Brownsville, Texas, and to open for Stryper in Monterrey and play at the Vive Latino Festival in Mexico City.

2020 also led to the first contacts with the upper echelons of the record industry. Jason Flom, CEO of Lava Records, after attending the December 2019 concerts in New York, expressed the label's interest in the band and, after more than seven months of negotiations during which the Villareal sisters did not deviate from their demand to be able to maintain total creative control over their music, they finally signed a five-record deal and became the first Mexican band under contract with a major US label. In September of the same year, they entered the Sound on Sound Studio in Montclair, New Jersey, to produce, with producer David Bendeth, their third studio album, still tentatively titled TW3 and anticipated by the single Choke, to be released on 21 May 2021 followed on 23 July by the second single Evolve.

On 22 June, the release of a new cover of Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara, who will later be included in The Metallica Blacklista collection of covers commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black Album by Metallica.

On 4 September, The Warning announced, as a preview on the Patreon platform, the 8 October release of an EP entitled Maydaycomprising six songs, including the singles Choke and Evolve. The same day also saw the release of the video for the third single Disciple.

On 19 June, the new album is made available to Kickstarter campaign backers Errorwhich includes the six pieces already present on Maydayplus eight other unreleased tracks, including the single of the same name. On 24 June, the album is made available on all streaming platforms.
