One year after the memorable sold-out concert at the Arena di Verona with a forty-eight-piece orchestra, Deep Purple are back on tour in Italy for two dates, this time in the historic rock version, on 24 July at the '10 Giorni Suonati al Castello di Vigevano' and the following day at Rock in Roma, at the Ippodromo Le Capannelle.
Despite their forty-five-year career, the British rock band found the energy in 2011 alone to play eighty concerts, release two live albums ('Space Truckin' around the World' and 'Phoenix Rising') and announce the start of work on the successor to 'Rapture of the Deep', their last studio work to date, dated 2005.
The two festivals that will host Deep Purple's only two Italian dates seem tailor-made for them. Those who have already savoured the atmosphere of '10 Giorni Suonati' in Vigevano cannot but agree with the fact that, after Jeff Beck, ZZ Top and Black Country Communion, Deep Purple are the perfect continuation of an artistic discourse that began three years ago.
In the 2012 edition of the Festival at Vigevano Castle, the British rock band joins the already confirmed Lynyrd Skynyrd (12 June) and Lenny Kravitz (19 July).
Rome, on the other hand, has always been the stronghold of Ian Gillan and co.: the last time in the capital was four years ago at the Palalottomatica, sold out for the occasion. A summer concert by Deep Purple under the skies of Rome is the appointment dreamt of by all the Capitoline fans - and not only - of the band.
Deep Purple's current line-up consists of Ian Gillan (vocals), Steve Morse (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Don Airey (keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums) .
