IAN HUNTER, former leader of Mott the Hoople, is coming to Italy for the first time as a solo artist FOR ONE DATE ONLY, on 5 May in Milan. ON THE OCCASION OF THE COPPA ITALIA FINAL BETWEEN ROMA AND INTER, THE CONCERT WILL START AT 22:30 AND THE MATCH WILL BE BROADCAST ON THE SCREENS AT ALCATRAZ, BEFORE THE SHOW.
Ian Hunter, after leaving the quintessential glam band in 1974, never stopped releasing albums let alone touring, continuing the tradition that Mott the Hoople were the best live band of the 1970s. We don't say this, but the direct competitors of the time do: Led Zeppelin, Free and David Bowie, who wrote the memorable 'All the young Dudes' which brought them success in 1972. Mott the Hoople were also the first band to play in a Broadway theatre and boast the record of being the only artists to have had Queen as a special guest on one of their tours. Ian Hunter himself has always warded off any reunion (with the exception of a five-concert series last year), continuing a successful solo career with his head held high, such as the latest album 'Man Overboard'which was released in June 2009 and consecrates 25 years of music since leaving Mott the Hoople: the first album under the name Ian Hunter dates back to 1975, which was followed by eighteen more studio and live albums.
Joining him on stage at Alcatraz in Milan will be The Rant Band, consisting of James Mastro (guitar and mandolin), Mark Bosch (guitar), Andy Burton (keyboards), Paul Page (bass) and Steve Holley (drums).
