2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the international release of Rodrigo y Gabriela's self-titled album. To mark the occasion, the two Mexican guitarists have dived into their personal archives to share a live album and DVD and a newly remastered version of the original. Originally released in Ireland in 2006, the album topped all the charts ahead of even Johnny Cash and Artic Monkeys. Rodrigo y Gabriela was produced by the guitarist duo with John Leckie, best known for his work with Radiohead and The Stone Roses. Affectionately known to fans as 'the Crocodile album', Rodrigo y Gabriela has sold over 750,000 copies worldwide.
From humble beginnings in Mexico, to life as a busker in Dublin, Rodrigo y Gabriela have taken the first steps on an artistic and musical journey that has taken them from Metallica covers, revised according to the canons of bossa nova, to classical music. In just a few years, they have captivated the whole of Europe and beyond with their extraordinary technique. Virtuosos of their instrument, they are able to recreate the sounds of a large orchestra of at least 40 elements starting with just two simple acoustic guitars, ranging from folk to rock, up to flamenco and Latin rhythms. Rodrigo y Gabriela have sold more than 1.5 million copies of their albums and have toured the world several times with great success with their music that unfolds through an intuitive interplay of sounds that are intimate, yet spectacular and full of melodic energy and rhythmic inventions.
