ALLAN HOLDSWORTH IN ITALY IN MAY FOR AN UNMISSABLE DATE

Allan Holdsworth announces its European tour that will stop in Milan at the Salumeria della Musica on 23 May 2012, the British guitarist's only Italian date.
During the concert, Holdsworth will perform most of his hits that, since 1976, have made him the protagonist and leader of a genre in which he was a true forerunner: progressive rock, often referred to as fusion, contaminated with jazz, rock and funk.
During the tour, Holdsworth will be accompanied by two well-known musicians from the fusion scene including US bassist Jimmy Haslip (founder of the 'Yellowjackets") and Australian rock drummer Virgil Donati (of the "Planet X"). Both boast collaborations with the likes of Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Al Jarreau, Steve Vai, Scott Henderson, Tribal Tech and many others. Special guest of the evening is guitarist Jeff Aug.
Allan Holdsworth, born in 1946, one of the greatest jazz/rock/progressive composers and guitarists of the 20th century, began his career in the very early 1970s.
He immediately gained the recognition of many other artists from the British progressive scene, releasing his first record in 1977, "Velvet Darkness". A great creator and leader of the synthesised guitar, as well as a pioneer of SynthAxe, he collaborates with the best known musicians of the progressive rock scene such as Soft Machine, Tempest e UK.
His last record dates back to 2010, entitled '.Blues for Tony“.
