AN EVENING OF BURLESQUE: FIRST THEATRE TOUR COMING SOON

“An Evening Of Burlesque', which premiered in Italy on 16 December at the Teatro Smeraldo in Milan, returns for a tour that from 26 January to 5 February will bring the liveliness of an ironic and sensual theatrical show live in various Italian cities. On stage since 2010 in London's West End, "An Evening of Burlesque" is a sparkling and tasteful show with a cast of elegant showgirls embodying Parisian charm and Las Vegas glamour in a combination of sensuality, wit, magic, music, dancing, singing and fabulous retro-style costumes.

Some of the best known stars of British neo-burlesque, such as Chrys Columbine, Amber Topaz, Slinky Sparkles, Miss Hotcake Kitty e Ginger Blush, burst onto the scene with panache and sense of humour to engage the audience in an exclusive and seductive 'evening of burlesque', with music played strictly live by a 4-piece band. There is no shortage, in the 2-hour show, of circus entertainment, brought to the stage by the "Count Adriano Fettuccini'., who performs an amusing strip while juggling at a height of three metres, and the hula-hoop queen Chloe Lloyd, always with the view that in burlesque the aim of the show is not the strip tease per se, but the aspect of the 'prank', derived from 18th century Italian comic opera, a form of entertainment that in its modern key runs on the thread of parody and light, never vulgar eroticism.

Burlesque, which became known to the general public in Italy just a few years ago thanks to a sensational performance on the Sanremo stage by the queen of the genre, Dita Von Teese, has so far enjoyed a growing interest in our country and a large and reserved group of devotees, used to applauding Italian and international stars in clubs and small venues, or at musical events related to swing and jive dancing and rock'n'roll from the 1950s or more recently even post-1970s rock. "An Evening Of Burlesque"in a combination of comedy, mischief and vocal talent, finally brings to the big theatre stages the fascinating art of burlesque, which counts among its brightest stars such divas as Mae West, Gipsy Rose Lee, Lydia Thompson, Tura Satanand of course Dita Von Teese.

Among the protagonists of "An Evening of Burlesque"coming to Italy organised by Barley Artswe find some of the best known stars of the genre: the diva is Chrys Columbineoften referred to as Europe's 'Dita Von Teese'. A true queen of British neo-Burlesque, Ms Columbine is an extraordinary porcelain-skinned pin-up and pianist, ethereal and elegant, known for the grace with which she performs Chopin's 'Nocturne' on the piano while mischievously shedding corsets and dresses of feathers and chiffon. Alternating with her on stage will be Amber Topaz, an unparalleled explosion of charisma and stage presence, between music and singing, comedy and seduction; Miss Hotcake Kittythe first star to emerge from the 'Burlesque Idol' talent show with all-round glamour; Miss Slinky Sparkles, an explosion of femininity and sophistication for the heir Marylin Monroe would have wished to have, and finally the new burlesque star Ginger Blush, a breath of comic freshness, capable of playing between humour and sex-appeal with performances of extraordinary class and retro taste. Around them the show develops with brio thanks to the interventions of some sparkling 'sidekicks' that make up the 'Folly Mixtures': Liberty Sweet, Bettsie Bon Bon, Saffron Cheveux e Angie Sylviato which is added the very blonde Coco Dubois, presenter and entertainer with a bubbly personality.
