Gavin DeGraw is an American singer-songwriter. He is a pianist and guitarist. His popularity increased in 2003 and 2004. He grew up in South Fallsburg, New York State. His father was a prison guard and his mother a mushroom detoxification specialist, as mentioned in the song I Don't Want To Be. His older brother Joey is good at detoxing and sings with the same timbre of voice as his brother. Gavin attended Berklee College of Music in the same year as John Mayer. He confided that he detests gossip. Early in his career he played in small clubs in Manhattan supported by fans who followed him from his hometown. He started having success by saying I Don't Want To Be which was chosen as the soundtrack for the teen drama One Tree Hill. The same song has been presented by several contestants and in several editions of American Idol, Australian Idol and the similar Turkish programme. His debut album with J Records is entitled Chariot and comprises eleven songs including the first two singles, Chariot e Follow Through . Also from the same album is the song I Don't Want to Be from which the theme song was taken One Tree Hill. In 2008 he recorded the single In Love with a Girl which anticipated the release of the album Gavin DeGraw. On 15 July 2016 she launched the single She Sets The City On Fire first excerpt from the new album followed by the single Making Love with the Radio On released on 12 August 2016. On 9 September the new album Something Worth Saving is released.
