After last summer's one-off date at Circolo Magnolia in Segrate (MI) to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their debut album, the Black Mountain return to Italy to present their new album IV, to be released on 1 April, supported in the opening by The Backhomes: Monday 4 April at Spazio 211 in Turin e Tuesday 5 April at Locomotiv Club in Bologna. Canadian psych pop duo The Backhomes, composed by musician Kees Dekker and the visual artist Aimée Van Drimmelencomes to Italy for the first time with its second full length Tidalwave, released in 2015: a psychedelic sonic journey along a soft synth-pop path, in anticipation of their forthcoming third studio album. Their hypnotic psychedelic pop is rooted in the sound of The Jesus and May Chain and Spiritualized, while also drawing inspiration from the tones and impulses of 1970s German Kosmische Musik.
I Black Mountain born from the ashes of the Jerk With A Bondof which the leader was a member. Stephen McBean e Joshua Wells. Soon the group turned into a real collective called Black Mountain Armywhich also promotes parallel side projects of the group members (e.g. the Pink Mountaintops of the same McBean). The band's first album is the self-titled Black Mountain (Jagjaguwar, 2005)which surprised critics with its skilful blend of hard rock and psychedelia. In the second work In The Future (Jagjaguwar, 2008) the band added progressive rock and folk elements to their sound; the choice was rewarded, and the album was nominated as a Best alternative album at Juno Awards 2009. The third work Wilderness Heart (Jagjaguwar, 2010) is moving towards a greater reappraisal of the American folk sound, always alongside their classic psychedelic sound of a hard matrix.
