Chiari Music Festival 2023 - The Festival returns with two days

Sunday 25 June: The Mavericks and Joanne Shaw Taylor
Saturday 1 July: Hothouse Flowers and Albert Cummings

The Chiari Music Festival is back again this year. The festival will grace the summer with two events full of good music for blues fans and others at the Istituto Salesiano S. Bernardino in Chiari (BS). On Sunday 25 June 2023 The Mavericks and Joanne Shaw Taylor will take the stage, while on Saturday 1 July it will be the turn of Hothouse Flowers and Albert Cummings. The two-day festival will start in the early afternoon, at 15:30, and the headliners will be preceded on stage by a long line-up of Italian and international artists. Tickets and season tickets are available on Ticketone and Ticketmaster.

The protagonists of the first day of the festival, the Mavericks have gone through three different phases since their birth in 1989: an initial period of great public and critical success in the 1990s, a long break in 2003 during which the musicians embarked on their solo careers, and a triumphant reunion that has lasted since 2012 and has made the line-up cross the 30-year career milestone. The fourth phase of the Mavericks kicked off with the release of their first album entirely in Spanish, En Español, on the band's own Mono Mundo label. The album is a rich musical paella, with characteristic country/rock/Tex-Mex flavours expertly mixed with Latin sounds, all branded with the unmistakable Mavericks style.

Preceding them on stage will be Joanne Shaw Taylor, who last June released Blues From The Heart Live, a concert film recorded at the Franklin Theatre in Tennessee, with special guests Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Mike Farris and Joe Bonamassa. Over the past two decades, Joanne has demonstrated her great talent as a songwriter by releasing seven highly acclaimed albums, including 2019's Reckless Heart, which made her one of the best known artists in modern British blues rock.

Saturday 1 July will be the turn of the Hothouse Flowers, one of the most famous Irish rock bands combining traditional Irish music with soul, gospel and rock. The line-up debuted on the streets of Dublin in 1985 and soon got noticed by Bono, who released their first single Love Don't Work This Way on U2's Mother Records label. The band's popularity grew and their 1988 debut album People was the most successful album in Irish history.

Also performing on the day will be Albert Cummings, an acclaimed blues musician who has had the privilege of performing alongside such hallowed monsters as B.B. King, Johnny Winter and Buddy Guy on stage. His latest work is 10, released on the Provogue Records label in 2022 and produced by Grammy Award holder Chuck Ainlay.
