Comfort Festival™️: full lineup revealed!

3-4 September 2021

The problems we have

cannot be solved

with the same mentality

with which we created them.

Albert Einstein

We are working with great care, creativity, dedication and passion on what will come to life at the Giorgio Bassani Urban Park of Ferrara on 3 and 4 September 2021.

A new music festival that follows the high road of musical quality, sustainability, multidisciplinarity, evocative location, and attention to detail in every aspect of the festival.

A festival where everyone can have physical space and not be considered a number.

A festival where you can enjoy being together while listening comfortably, sitting on a deckchair or reclining on the lawn with your own towel, to more than 30 international and Italian artists performing on two adjoining and clearly visible stages.

Comfort Festival™️ was born from an idea of Claudio Trotta's from a few years ago, before the pandemic that stopped the whole world of togetherness 18 months ago and is currently in a sort of limbo between being and not being.

A key element is the search for the COMFORTalso stimulated by the application of affordable entry prices that are mindful of the serious economic and social hardship we are all experiencing.

The COMFORT of a cosy, green location, where only around three thousand people a day will be able to share in the live music of the COMFORT Stagealso strictly live electro-acoustic performances that will take place in the A.R.M.O.N.I.A. stage by Slow Musicto rediscover the real sense of enjoying Beauty in all its forms and the intimate well-being it can give us when experienced properly.

Thanks to the simultaneous holding of Streeatâ Food Truck Festival what you eat and drink will please and not just fill your belly: this too is Comfort Festival™️.

The Giorgio Bassani Urban Park

Dedicated to the writer Giorgio Bassani, the park lies between the city and the Po, an ancient hunting reserve of the Este family. It is made up of a series of cycle and pedestrian paths, meadow and lake areas. It is easily accessible both by cars both with the public transport.

The festival is structured on two stages: the Comfort Stagededicated to the main concerts, and the A.R.M.O.N.I.A. stage by Slow Musicwho will offer a series of small acoustic performances. The almost 'indigenous' actress and television presenter will act as liaison between everything that happens on the two stages. Chiara Buratti, a native of Cento in the province of Ferrara, who will speak 'subject matter' in some of the breaks between performances.

Slow Music ETS is a non-profit association established in 2018, the brainchild of Claudio Trotta, founder of Barley Arts. Fifteen founding members - including Stefano Bonagura, Franco Mussida, Stefano Senardi, Paolo Dal Bon, Stefano Rosa, Massimo Poggini - who have decided to join and contribute to Slow Music. As highlighted in the Manifesto, one of the founding acts of the Movement, Slow Music is a cultural project that proposes the philosophy of the just and ethical, through education and training programmes related to music, to making music, to listening to it in depth, and to the management of projects and events in the music world to be shared in a just relationship with listeners. In 2019 and 2020, it successfully brought to the mountains of Lombardy, in collaboration with Lombardy Region and ERSAFthe first two editions of the project A.R.M.O.N.I.A.., with a total of 24 hours of live entertainment, over 11 days and 6 stages, more than 130 Italian and international musicians and artists, free admission for the public, in wonderful open spaces that deserve to be increasingly valued and frequented. With the aim of taking care of everything that the acronym indicates: Environment Resources Music Opportunities Nature Identity Art. Events with a minimum environmental impact, plastic free, economically sustainable, respectful of available resources and of the territory where they take place, for an attentive and curious public, with the contribution of young people who participate in the organisation and are included in the work environment, involving zero km collaborators in each place, with attention and space for all the arts.

"Trying to fuel the restart of the "World of togetherness"is a right and a duty of those lucky enough to do my job, believing in it a joy and one needsa real challenge after 18 months of a substantial blockade of concerts and festivals' - says Claudio Trotta, the soul and driving force behind the Festival. "The difference will be made by the participation of the public, which will give meaning and colour to our efforts. The difference will be made by the artists we have chosen, Italians, English, Irish, Canadians and Australians who will all play live. The extraordinary support of the Municipality of Ferrara and the Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Ferrara meanwhile has been able to make this challenge possible. We are there and we are already working on the editions 2022 e 2023 to be held on the same weekend and in the same location."

"The Comfort Festival™ is a great novelty this year that will further enrich the busy calendar of events in this summer of recovery," says the Mayor of Ferrara Alan Fabbri. "The Urban Park is a new location that will be enlivened by music by national and international artists, to be listened to surrounded by greenery, in a large, evocative, well-equipped area. A unique place on which we are working to make it more and more accessible and to make it a setting for major events. We are happy to be able to collaborate with Claudio Trotta, whose name and history are linked to international artists of the highest level".

"Comfort Festival™ has all the makings of one of the most qualifying events, at national level, of this summer of recovery". - says Councillor Marco Gulinelli. "The ingredients are all there: a prestigious name like Claudio Trotta, a unique area, Bassani Park, great singers and bands on stage, and a very wide range of music and literature.

"The Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Ferrara - emphasises the theatre director Abbado, Moni Ovadia - willingly makes its technical and organisational structures available to organise this short but intense festival, strongly desired by the Municipality of Ferrara and proposed by the further Barley Arts by Claudio Trotta, a music management structure with a great history and undisputed professionalism. At this historic moment, Ferrara is showing a great desire to get out of the isolation of Covid and all the social fallout that comes with it; it is doing so in the best and most effective way: with culture and entertainment".
