Johnny Winter, icon of white blues, defined by Rolling Stone as the second greatest Texan talent after Janis Joplin, returns to Italy in February for FOUR unmissable dates. The first on Saturday 25 February 2012 at the Teatro Ermete in Rimini, then on Sunday 26 February at the Gran Teatro Geox in Padua, a new confirmation for the 27th at the Rossetti in Trieste, and finally on Tuesday 28 February at the Cinema Teatro in Cologne Bresciano (BS).
Even today, it is difficult to understand how such a tiny, wiry, almost ethereal person could give off so much energy. Johnny Winter, even as a young man, was able to demonstrate his character when, as the only white man present at the B.B. King concert, he managed to get the bluesman himself to hand over his guitar to prove to the audience that even a white man could play the blues. A music that was easy to play, but difficult to play as well as he did. Johnny Winter, despite having undergone musical contaminations from both the blues and rock 'n roll, was able to create a unique and unmistakable style, capable of influencing thousands of other musicians and consecrating him among the best guitarists around. After hundreds of concerts on stages all over the world to the sound of that rock 'n roll that is impossible not to dance to, today's Johnny Winter is a true survivor. The signs of time and excesses have marked his body but have spared his fingers, which, moving on the guitar with the agility of yesteryear, still know how to recreate that atmosphere and warmth of which only a great artist is capable. In February Johnny Winter will be in Italy to the delight of blues lovers and beyond. In all his concerts he will be accompanied by Vito Liuzzi on drums, Scott Spray on bass and Paul Nelson, guitarist and producer of his latest album 'Roots', released on 27 September 2011.
