I Détroit, the new band formed by Bertrand Cantatformer singer and guitarist of the Noir Désirand by Pascal Humbertpreviously in the Sixteen Horsepowerarrive in Italy for one date on11 June at Carroponte in Sesto San Giovanni (MI). The duo will present their debut album '.Horizons"published in November 2013.
The two French artists are not new to collaboration. In 1997, Pascal Humbert and the Sixteen Horsepower invite Bertrand Cantatthen a member of the Noir Désirto participate in the album 'Low Estate" to revisit "Fire Spirit" of the Gun Club e "The Partisan' of Leonard Cohen. In 2011, the writer and screenwriter Wajdi Mouawad brings the two together to compose and perform on stage the music for the trilogy 'Le cycle des femmes', a play based on Sophocles. It could not end there: the two decided to combine their experiences, both human and musical, creating a project with a programmatic name. "Détroit' means 'narrow'. The choice of the name is not random: in the two artists' intentions, "a 'strait' is an element of balance, a punctuation mark in the landscape, a trait d'union between two immensities, where streams from afar meet and travellers cross their destinies". This is the concept behind the project Détroit: the tracks of 'Horizons" have as their theme the encounter with the other, the passages, the explorations of a land that is our common horizon. Preceded by the piece "Null and Void" (http://youtu.be/6_v3O8CLR_w), "Horizons"is an album where the poetry of Bertrand Cantat meets dark, intense rock permeated with shamanic suggestions.
