A quartet of Southern music enthusiasts, the Steel Woods proudly refer to the sound that sees the Lynyrd Skynyrd as progenitors. Like them, the Steel Woods They mix powerful blues rock with Southern poetry, adding a dash of straightforward country, as demonstrated on their 2017 debut album Straw in the Wind (Thirty Tigers/Woods Music)featuring Canadian country singer-songwriter Lindi Ortega and reached 42nd place in the Independent Albums Chart by Billboard.
The Steel Woods were founded by the two guitarists Wes Bayliss e Jason 'Rowdy' Cope. The two musicians, who played in other country bands, met during a concert in Nashville and started writing music together after a series of fishing trips to Tennessee. The line-up is completed by drummer Jay Tooke and the bassist Johnny Stanton.
