DIRECT FROM THE STAGES OF LONDON 'AN EVENING OF BURLESQUE'

The art of Burlesque arrives on Italian theatre stages with a sparkling, ironic and sensual show "An Evening of Burlesque" on stage from 7 to 19 December 2011 with some of the stars of the genre: Amber Topaz, Chrys Columbine, Ginger Blush and Kiki Kaboom among the protagonists

Straight from the stages of London's West End, "An Evening of Burlesque"arrives in Italy with a sparkling, tasteful show and a cast of elegant showgirls who embody Parisian charm and Las Vegas glamour in a combination of sensuality, wit, magic, dance and fabulous retro-style costumes. The date with what The Guardian has dubbed 'the burlesque sensation' is 7 to 19 December: the tour debuts on Wednesday 7 December at the Gran Teatro Geox in Padua and continues with shows in Ferrara (Teatro Comunale, Thursday 8), Varese (Teatro di Varese, Friday 9), Rome (Atlantico Live, Sunday 11), Bologna (Teatro delle Celebrazioni, Wednesday 14), Milan (15 to 17 December, Teatro Smeraldo) Villafranca di Verona (Teatro Tenda Sunday 18) and finally Brescia (Monday 19, Pala Eib).

Burlesque, which became known to the general public in Italy just a few years ago thanks to a sensational performance on the Sanremo stage by the queen of the genre, Dita Von Teese, has so far enjoyed a growing interest in our country and a large and reserved group of devotees, accustomed to applauding Italian and international stars in clubs and small venues.

An Evening Of Burlesque"in a combination of comedy, mischief and vocal talent, finally brings to the big theatre stages the fascinating art of burlesque, which counts among its brightest stars such divas as Mae West, Gipsy Rose Lee, Lydia Thompson, Tura Satanand of course Dita Von Teese. The Hollywood film 'Burlesque' released in 2010 with Christina Aguilera as the sensual and radiant leading lady and Cher as one of the performers, further helped popularise a form of entertainment that runs on the thread of parody and light, never vulgar eroticism.

Among the stars of "An Evening of Burlesque"coming to Italy organised by Barley Arts, we find Chrys ColumbineShe has often been called the British 'Dita Von Teese' and is known for the grace with which she performs Chopin's 'Nocturne' on the piano while mischievously shedding corsets and feather and chiffon dresses. Joining her on stage are some of the best known stars of British neo-burlesque, including Amber Topaz, Kiki Kaboom, Miss Hotcake Kitty e Ginger Blush.
