I DeWolff, a young and very active Dutch line-up, after delighting fans of the Black Crowes on the occasion of their last Italian concert they will return to Milan Friday 17 November 2023 for an unmissable concert at Legend Club. I tickets are already available on Ticketone e Ticketmaster.
Despite not yet having reached the age of 30, the DeWolff already have ten studio albums, two EPs and three live albums to their credit, as well as more than 1,000 shows worldwide. The trio of Hammond organ, guitar and drums produces an explosive mix of Southern blues electric rock with a touch of soul and psychedelia. Since their formation in 2007, they have opened concerts for Toto, The Black Keys, Deep Purple, Ten Years After e Wolfmother in addition to the already mentioned The Black Crowes.
On 3 February they released their latest studio effort, Love, Death & In Between at Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group; after the previous albums Tascam Tapes - recorded entirely on the road on a cassette recorder from the 1980s - and the 'socially distanced' Wolffpack, "we wanted to do something with people, as many people as possible," says the singer and guitarist Pablo van de Poel. "In 2019 I listened to a sermon by Al Greenin his church, and it was a life-changing experience for me musically. I was in there for a minute and I started crying. He was talking about a person who couldn't pay his bills and he was calling for God's help for her, and the crowd responded. The band played two chords and it was beautiful. I was really touched by this experience. It had a profound impact on me. I wanted to do something similar during a concert, but we had no suitable songs. When we started writing I wanted to be able to do the same, an almost religious experience. Because, after all, music has the same effect on us as a religion. It's something that pervades our minds all the time. It is the thing we have dedicated our lives to."
In 2022 the band went to record in Kerwaxan analogue recording studio in the village of Loguivy-Plougras in Brittany. They took refuge in the studio for a fortnight, engulfed by vintage recording equipment, and recorded live on tape, without overdubs or the use of computers. The mastering was also done completely analogue. I DeWolff left the countryside of Brittany with twelve songs recorded together with a series of friends. Thanks to a diet of Al Green, Sam Cooke e John SteinbeckThey have written some of the most beautiful pieces in their repertoire.
