Paul Weller is in great shape, and so is his band. The concerts in Rome and Ferrara were a delight for the Modfather's fans, who came to see him on an Italian stage again after five long years.
Tonight will be the last Italian date of the tour at Vigevano Castle for '10 Giorni Suonati'. As in Ferrara, the evening will open Luca Sapio at 9 p.m.
Paul Weller will take the stage around 10 pm.
Doors open at 19:00 - Tickets available at the ticket office from 17:00
Let's find out more about tonight's supporter:
Luca Sapio knows soul like few, Luca Sapio sings blues and soul like few.
Former voice of The Accelerators, The Black Friday and Quintorigo, with Who Knows, Luca Sapio has written an important chapter in his artistic career.
In his timbre and vocal expressiveness one can deeply feel the influence of tons and tons of African-American music that he grew up with and that still accompanies him today. His voice has evolved tempering itself through a difficult life, years that have seen him wander, work, study and play around the United States, moving from the West Coast to Canada, until settling down again and starting from his hometown, Rome. So after numerous prestigious collaborations in jazz and rock, 'Who Knows', his long-awaited debut album, has finally arrived.
'Who Knows' is an album of pure 'gritty soul' at its most edgy and authentic. An engaging and straightforward blend of super groove, gospel harmonies, horns, psychedelia and spiritual prophecies. "Who Knows' contains nine original tracks for nine new soul classics, plus two amazing covers. A sound that starts in Pigneto (Rome) and goes straight to Williamsburgh (New York).
All magically supervised, produced and recorded in the mysterious Dunham Records studios on one-inch tapes by the legendary Thomas "TNT" Brenneck (Cee-lo Green, Mary J. Blige, D'Angelo, Mark Ronson, K'Naan, John Taylor, Benny Blanco, John Hill, Santogold, Foreigner, St. Vincent, Aloe Blacc, The Like, Sean Lennon, Alex Greenwald, Mike Snow, The Kaiser Chiefs). Vincent, Aloe Blacc, The Like, Sean Lennon, Alex Greenwald, Mike Snow, The Kaiser Chiefs) who for the occasion called to his court the excellences of Brooklyn's award-winning and much courted soul family, members of the Dap-Kings, Budos Band, Menahan Street Band and Naomi Shelton's Gospel Queens. The same people behind the sound of Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley.
Yes, you read that right: for this new adventure, Luca Sapio will have, in addition to the Italic and multi-talented soul jazz duo 'Capiozzo & Mecco' (authors among many other things of the successful 'Small Club' for the American series Sex and the City), precisely those travelling companions.
"Who Knows' conveys the emotional strength and energy that have pervaded the style of Thomas 'TNT' Brenneck and his collaborators. This collaboration was born out of a passion for the most authentic and classic soul, that of masters such as Bobby Blue Bland, Syl Johnson, Otis Redding, Al Green, Solomon Burke and James Brown.
Luca Sapio's album is also the first real encounter between 'new leaders of the old school'. Something that unites artists who know and play soul like few others. The new Italian soul and the new American soul. Something we can be proud of. Especially in hard and difficult times like these. After all, Luca Sapio is no stranger to hard times.
This is the line-up that will take the stage alongside Luca Sapio:
