The Eels Mr. E's finally return to our country for two concerts during which they will present live the latest album Earth To Dora, released last year by E Works / . The band will be at Live Club of Trezzo sull'Adda (MI) Friday 1 April 2022 and to theEstragon in Bologna Saturday 2 April. The thirteenth studio album by the Eels, Earth To Dorawas recorded at the band's own studio in Los Feliz, California. Produced by E and performed by E, Koool G Murder, The Chet and P-Boo, the album received much critical praise and was described as "their most tender album ever" from The Independent, and received four-star reviews on Mojo, NME e The Timeswho confirmed: 'Everett became a songwriter to stand by his heroes". Eels have had one of the most acclaimed careers in music. An ever-evolving project curated by frontman E (Mark Oliver Everett), the Eels have released 13 studio albums since their debut in 1996, Beautiful Freak. 2015 saw the release of the extraordinary live album recorded at the Royal Albert Hall and the concert film.
The title track Earth To Dora is accompanied by the release of a stop-motion music video, which features Dora stuck on the moon, surrounded by enormous sadness and surreal depictions of despair, and it is the turn of E convince her that it is time to return to Earth. Immortalised in plasticine by award-winning Welsh director Isabel Garrett, the story of E and Dora talks about friendship and mutual support.
Director Isabel Garrett writes: 'The song is about E trying to cheer up an old friend. There is something magical and otherworldly about the lyrics, which made me think of Dora stuck on another planet, surrounded by sadness and needing to find her way home. For me, the song is about the distance created by depression and how nice the company of other people is. I liked the idea of mixing painting with stop motion to create a somewhat playful and nostalgic world with lots of handmade textures to reflect the sensibility of the lyrics“.
