The Eluveitie, Switzerland's most successful folk metal band, arrive in Italy next Saturday 5 August at the Area Polifunzionale di Filago (BG) for the Metal For Emergency Festival. The concert has free admission.
Eluveitie, Eluveitie in Gallic, is the band that was founded in 2002 as a laboratory of ideas of leader Chrigel Glanzmann: in the singer's idea, Eluveitie was supposed to synthesise gothic and death metal with ancient folk themes and melodies. In their fifteen-year career, the band has repeatedly achieved important results that have allowed them to establish themselves as Switzerland's metal band par excellence. 2012's Helvetios marked one of the high points for Eluveitie with a very long tour that took them to North America, Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. The album also reached number three on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart (USA), number four in Switzerland, number six in Canada Hard Music and number seven in USA Hard Music.
The Eluveitie are Chrigel Glanzmann (vocals, mandolin, flute, whistle, bagpipes, gaita, guitar, bodhràn), Kay Brem (bass), Rafael Salzmann (electric guitar), Matteo Sisti (bagpipes, flute), Nicole Ansperger (violin), Alain Ackermann (drums), Jonas Wolf (electric guitar), Michalina Malisz (hurdy-gurdy), Fabienne Erni (vocals, Celtic harp, mandola). With their current line-up, Eluveitie made history by becoming the first metal band to receive the renowned Swiss Music Awards, the Swiss equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
