A few days after the conclusion of his Italian mini-tour, which took him on the road for five dates - mostly sold out in advance - from the North to the South of the Boot to present his full-length White Jesus Black Problems, Fantastic Negrito announces three new dates, this time together with his band, in addition to the show opening the Ferrara leg of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on Thursday 18 May: Friday 19 May at the Crossroads Live Club in Rome, Saturday 20 May at the San Severino Blues Festival in San Severino Marche (MC) and Sunday 21 May at the New Age in Roncade (TV). Tickets for the concerts - excluding the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert, which has been sold out for some time - are available on Vivaticket (Rome), Ticketone and TicketSMS (Roncade); the San Severino Blues Festival will open sales in the next few days on Ticketone.
Fantastic Negrito recently released Grandfather Courage, an acoustic version of his acclaimed fourth studio album White Jesus Black Problems (Storefront Records, 2022), which earned him another Grammy Awards 2023 nomination in the Best American Roots Performance category for the single Oh Betty.
Part love story, part history lesson, the extraordinary White Jesus Black Problems is an enthralling ode to the strength of family and the enduring resilience of humankind. Inspired by the interracial - and illegal - love story of his ancestors, a white servant girl and a black slave in 1750s Virginia, the album's tracks are daring and thought-provoking in tackling themes such as racism, capitalism and the true meaning of freedom, without ever losing sight of the desire and determination behind the narrative. Each track alone can sum up the meaning of the entire album, but analysing the album and its accompanying film as a whole leads to a much more transcendent experience, one that challenges knowledge about our identity, where we come from and where we are headed.
Virgin Radio is the official radio station for Fantastic Negrito's Italian dates.
