KISHI BASHI - Milano

Known for your militancy in the Of Montreal and for his docufilm OmoiyariJapanese-American singer-songwriter and violinist Kishi Bashi comes to Italy for the first time. The only date in our country is scheduled for Wednesday 4 December 2024 at the Legend Club in Milan. I tickets will be available on Ticketone e Ticketmaster from 8am on Friday 17 May.

Kishi Bashi is the pseudonym of the singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Kaoru Ishibashi. Born in Seattle, Washington, Ishibashi grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, where both his parents were professors at Old Dominion University. After graduating from Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in 1994, he went on to study film music at Berklee College of Music before becoming a renowned violinist. In his career, Ishibashi has toured all over the world and played violin for artists such as Regina Spektor, Sondre Lercheand the already mentioned Of Montreal.

Omoiyari is the fourth album by Kishi Bashi and his most important to date. It is the soundtrack to the documentary of the same name - by the same Ishibashi - which tells the story of American citizens of Japanese descent who were imprisoned on US soil after Pearl Harbor. Many of the songs were inspired by the history of his people and the oppression they experienced, and cleverly weave together stories of love, loss and the desire to make the listener relive things that happened in the past. In an attempt to channel the hard lessons learned from history, Omoiyari is an uncompromising musical statement on the turbulent socio-political atmosphere in America today.
