Slow Gaber

Homage to Mr G

More than 18 years after his death, the 31 August the exhibition Sforza Summer will host a Milanese evening dedicated to Giorgio Gaberfrom jazz to rock'n'roll to song theatre.

It is a long and varied journey that we will revisit with the contribution of some and selected Ā artists and some previously unseen footage presented to the public for the first time. Starting from the late 1950s in Milan, his first experiences as a guitarist, to his beginnings as a performer and author, to the duo I Corsari with Enzo Jannacci, to the successes with Dischi Ricordi that later became classics, to the songs dedicated to characters from his city, and finally to the turning point that led to the invention of the Teatro-Canzone, a new language, created with Sandro Luporini, congenial to the content and urgency of intervening, almost every year, with a new performance proposal.

Giorgio Gaber was a musician, author, performer, presenter, actor, playwright, director; he lived in clubs, on tour, on television, in the theatre. He is one of the giants of Italian show business, one of the most popular ever, singular, unique. Any categorisation seems reductive to describe Giorgio Gaber's arts.

The soul of the show will be represented by the heartfelt reinterpretation of some of Gaber's songs that will give Morgantruly one of the most original and passionate Gaberian performers.

The instrumental reinterpretation that the band led by Federica Pellegrinelli and formed by excellent musicians who graduated from the CPM MUSIC INSTITUTEwho has already collaborated with Slow Music at the Castle in summer 2020 during the Estate Sforzesca for the celebration of Slow Club Liveand with the contribution of friends and intellectuals who will bring their testimonies to the stage.

Young and emerging artists will participate in the show together with other well-known and established ones, creating a kaleidoscope of voices, sounds, testimonies and images that will paint the great masterpiece that is the unforgettable Mr. G, with the intention of contributing to testifying and divulging a very rich human, intellectual and artistic heritage that has been able to 'speak' to everyone.

Slow Music is a non-profit association whose aim is to create a network of cooperation between industry players and music users. In 2019 it creates A.R.M.O.N.I.A., the first sustainable project by the Association and in collaboration with the Lombardy Region and ERSAF, which aims to create a modern image of mountain forests and nature reserves, to help raise awareness of the forests of Lombardy and the Stelvio National Park with concerts, meetings and conferences.
